Document Solutions for Imaging - Skia

Please refer to the note below for important package information.

This is a cross-platform rendering engine for drawing text and graphics. It is based on SkiaSharp and exposes an object model similar to, and interoperable with, classes from Document Solutions for Imaging (DsImaging, formerly GcImaging).

The main classes in DsImaging.Skia are GcSkiaBitmap, GcSkiaImage, and GcSkiaGraphics, and can be used instead of their counterparts from DsImaging.

GcSkiaBitmap represents a bitmap in CPU memory. It works similar to GcBitmap but internally encapsulates an instance of SKBitmap object from SkiaSharp.GcSkiaBitmap can load and save images in JPEG, PNG, and WEBP formats. A GcSkiaBitmap can be converted to a GcBitmap or GcSkiaImage, and vice versa. To draw on a GcSkiaBitmap, call the CreateGraphics() method which returns an instance of the associated GcSkiaGraphics that can be used for drawing.

GcSkiaImage represents an immutable image based on SKImage. It is a lightweight version of GcSkiaBitmap which does not support modifications. A GcSkiaImage can be loaded and saved to the same formats as GcSkiaBitmap. It can also be converted to GcBitmap or GcSkiaBitmap. Both GcSkiaImage and GcSkiaBitmap implement the IImage interface and so can be rendered on an instance of any class derived from GcGraphics.

GcSkiaGraphics is the drawing class derived from GcGraphics. An instance of GcSkiaGraphics can be created directly or from a GcSkiaBitmap. If the GcSkiaGraphics instance was created from a GcSkiaBitmap, it can be disposed when all drawing is done. If the GcSkiaGraphics instance was created directly, ToSkiaImage() or ToGcBitmap() methods can be called on it to get a snapshot of the current drawing.

If drawing text to multiple instances of GcSkiaGraphics make sure to create a single SkiaFontCache object and assign it to the FontCache property of all those instances.

GrapeCity.Documents.Imaging.Skia is compatible with .NET 8, .NET 7, .NET 6, .NET Standard 2.x, .NET Framework 4.6.1 or higher.

All features are fully supported on Windows, macOS and Linux.

A Shift from ‘GrapeCity Documents' to ‘Document Solutions' for US Edition

重要信息:对于 ’GrapeCity Documents’ 中国版本,组件名已经更改为 ‘GcDocs’。

GrapeCity Documents has undergone a marketing rebranding and as a result, the v7.2 Maintenance release in November 2024 will mark the final release under the old GrapeCity Documents product branding.

Starting with version 8.0.0 onwards, the packages will only be released using the new package names and this GrapeCity package will be phased out.

It is highly recommended to update to these new packages as soon as you can. Transitioning to the new packages has been simplified through the Documents Migration tool, conveniently included in the product trial download zip files available for the respective products:

Please note that despite the adoption of new package names, the APIs, namespaces, and type names remain unchanged. You will not need to modify your code. Only the package names and DLL names have been changed, just requiring updates to the new package references.

Existing subscriptions will continue to receive the new package updates. If you have any questions or need any assistance with this update, please contact our support teams. Please find the nuget package links for new packages below:

Changes from Previous Version

No structural changes between v7.2.0 and v7.2.1.
