README

Syncfusion .NET MAUI Rotator (SfRotator)

The Syncfusion .NET MAUI Rotator is a data control used to display a collection of items - such as images - and navigate through them. Items can be navigated using swipe gestures, navigation buttons, or a navigation strip that shows either dots or thumbnails. Build rich item carousels for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows from a single codebase.

.NET MAUI Rotator

Key features

Data binding and items

  • Bind to any IEnumerable collection of items, including ObservableCollection<T>.
  • Each item can show an image and a caption through Image and ItemText, or host any custom view using ItemContent.
  • Fully customize the visual structure of items with the ItemTemplate property.

Navigation

  • Swipe gesture: navigate between items with a swipe, enabled or disabled with EnableSwiping.
  • Navigation buttons: previous and next buttons to move between items, with customizable background and icon colors.
  • Navigation strip: choose between Dots and Thumbnail strip modes with NavigationStripMode, and place the strip at the top or bottom with NavigationStripPosition.
  • Auto play: slide items automatically with EnableAutoPlay, and control the delay between transitions with NavigationDelay.
  • Looping: move seamlessly from the last item back to the first with EnableLooping.
  • Navigate in either horizontal or vertical direction using NavigationDirection.

Interaction

  • Track the current item with the two-way bindable SelectedIndex property.
  • SelectedIndexChanged and ItemTapped events to respond when the selected item changes or an item is tapped.
  • Invoke custom logic with the Command and CommandParameter properties.
  • Programmatic navigation with the Next(), Previous(), and Refresh() methods.

Look and feel

  • Customize the selected and unselected dot colors, dot stroke, and dot placement.
  • Customize the selected and unselected thumbnail stroke colors.
  • Full styling support with built-in light and dark themes.

Installation

.NET CLI

dotnet add package Syncfusion.Maui.Rotator

Package Manager Console

Install-Package Syncfusion.Maui.Rotator

Getting started

1. Register the Syncfusion core handler

In MauiProgram.cs, call ConfigureSyncfusionCore():

using Syncfusion.Maui.Core.Hosting;

public static class MauiProgram
{
    public static MauiApp CreateMauiApp()
    {
        var builder = MauiApp.CreateBuilder();
        builder
            .UseMauiApp<App>()
            .ConfigureSyncfusionCore();

        return builder.Build();
    }
}

2. Create a model and a ViewModel

using System.Collections.ObjectModel;
using Syncfusion.Maui.Rotator;

public class RotatorViewModel
{
    public ObservableCollection<SfRotatorItem> ImageCollection { get; set; }

    public RotatorViewModel()
    {
        ImageCollection = new ObservableCollection<SfRotatorItem>
        {
            new SfRotatorItem { Image = "image1.png", ItemText = "First item" },
            new SfRotatorItem { Image = "image2.png", ItemText = "Second item" },
            new SfRotatorItem { Image = "image3.png", ItemText = "Third item" }
        };
    }
}

3. Add SfRotator to your page

<ContentPage xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/dotnet/2021/maui"
             xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
             xmlns:syncfusion="clr-namespace:Syncfusion.Maui.Rotator;assembly=Syncfusion.Maui.Rotator"
             xmlns:local="clr-namespace:YourAppNamespace"
             x:Class="YourAppNamespace.MainPage">

    <ContentPage.BindingContext>
        <local:RotatorViewModel />
    </ContentPage.BindingContext>

    <syncfusion:SfRotator ItemsSource="{Binding ImageCollection}"
                          SelectedIndex="0"
                          NavigationStripMode="Dots"
                          NavigationStripPosition="Bottom" />

</ContentPage>

Run the app. Swipe or use the navigation buttons to move between the images.

Common scenarios

Enable auto play and looping

<syncfusion:SfRotator ItemsSource="{Binding ImageCollection}"
                      EnableAutoPlay="True"
                      NavigationDelay="3000"
                      EnableLooping="True" />

Show a navigation strip with items and captions

<syncfusion:SfRotator ItemsSource="{Binding ImageCollection}"
                      NavigationStripMode="Thumbnail"
                      NavigationStripPosition="Bottom"
                      IsTextVisible="True"
                      ShowNavigationButton="True" />

Customize the dot strip appearance

<syncfusion:SfRotator ItemsSource="{Binding ImageCollection}"
                      NavigationStripMode="Dots"
                      SelectedDotColor="#FF6200EE"
                      UnselectedDotColor="#FFE1E1E4"
                      DotPlacement="Default" />

Handle selection changes

this.rotator.SelectedIndex = 2;
this.rotator.SelectedIndexChanged += (sender, e) =>
{
    int currentIndex = e.SelectedIndex;
};
