README

Syncfusion .NET MAUI Grid Splitter (SfGridSplitter)

The Syncfusion .NET MAUI Grid Splitter is a layout control that arranges content in resizable panes separated by draggable splitters. Users can adjust the size of adjacent rows or columns simply by dragging a splitter bar, and panes can also be collapsed and expanded on demand. Build rich resizable split views for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows from a single codebase.

Using this package with an AI coding agent

Before generating Syncfusion code, ask your AI coding agent to run the Syncfusion setup using the following prompt:

Set up this project for Syncfusion before generating code. Fetch and follow the official instructions at https://ai.syncfusion.com, then report the detected platform, installed skill pack, MCP status, and any required licensing action.

The setup detects your project’s platform and loads the appropriate Syncfusion skill pack. No Syncfusion account or MCP key is required to install or read Syncfusion agent skills.

Key features

Layout and panes

  • Arrange panes side-by-side with Horizontal (default), or stack them with Vertical.
  • Add any number of panes through the SplitterPanes collection.
  • Each SplitterPane hosts any view in its Content property and supports proportional, fixed, and fill sizing through Size (for example, 2*, 200, or *).

Resizing

  • Drag the splitter bar to resize adjacent panes with smooth, live feedback.
  • Constrain resizing per pane with MinimumSize, MaximumSize, IsResizable, and sensible default minimums for inner panes.
  • Control the splitter bar thickness with the SeparatorSize property.
  • Follow the resize interaction with the ResizeStarted, Resizing, and ResizeEnded events.

Collapse and expand

  • Show or hide panes interactively using built-in expand and collapse buttons.
  • Collapse or expand panes programmatically through the IsCollapsed property.
  • Control whether a pane participates with the IsCollapsible property.
  • Follow the expand and collapse interaction with the Collapsing, Collapsed, Expanding, and Expanded events.

Look and feel

  • Customize the splitter bar with SeparatorBackground, ResizeIconColor, and ExpandCollapseIconColor.
  • Replace the resize handle entirely with a custom ResizeIconTemplate.
  • Theme the pane backgrounds and borders with built-in light and dark theme support.

More

  • Right-to-left (RTL) layout support.
  • Keyboard and accessibility support.
  • A shared codebase and API that behave consistently across Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows.

Installation

.NET CLI

dotnet add package Syncfusion.Maui.GridSplitter

Package Manager Console

Install-Package Syncfusion.Maui.GridSplitter

Getting started

1. Register the Syncfusion core handler

In MauiProgram.cs, call ConfigureSyncfusionCore():

using Syncfusion.Maui.Core.Hosting;

public static class MauiProgram
{
    public static MauiApp CreateMauiApp()
    {
        var builder = MauiApp.CreateBuilder();
        builder
            .UseMauiApp<App>()
            .ConfigureSyncfusionCore();

        return builder.Build();
    }
}

2. Add SfGridSplitter to your page

<ContentPage xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/dotnet/2021/maui"
             xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
             xmlns:syncfusion="clr-namespace:Syncfusion.Maui.GridSplitter;assembly=Syncfusion.Maui.GridSplitter"
             x:Class="YourAppNamespace.MainPage">

    <syncfusion:SfGridSplitter>
        <syncfusion:SplitterPane Size="2*">
            <syncfusion:SplitterPane.Content>
                <Label Text="Pane 1"
                       HorizontalOptions="Center"
                       VerticalOptions="Center" />
            </syncfusion:SplitterPane.Content>
        </syncfusion:SplitterPane>

        <syncfusion:SplitterPane Size="1*">
            <syncfusion:SplitterPane.Content>
                <Label Text="Pane 2"
                       HorizontalOptions="Center"
                       VerticalOptions="Center" />
            </syncfusion:SplitterPane.Content>
        </syncfusion:SplitterPane>
    </syncfusion:SfGridSplitter>

</ContentPage>

Run the app. Two resizable panes appear side-by-side, separated by a draggable splitter bar.

Common scenarios

Stack panes top to bottom

<syncfusion:SfGridSplitter Orientation="Vertical">
    <syncfusion:SplitterPane Size="1*" />
    <syncfusion:SplitterPane Size="2*" />
</syncfusion:SfGridSplitter>

Constrain a pane

<syncfusion:SfGridSplitter>
    <syncfusion:SplitterPane Size="200"
                             MinimumSize="150"
                             MaximumSize="300" />
    <syncfusion:SplitterPane Size="*"
                             IsCollapsible="False" />
</syncfusion:SfGridSplitter>

Style the splitter bar

<syncfusion:SfGridSplitter SeparatorSize="12"
                           SeparatorBackground="#F0F0F0"
                           ResizeIconColor="#49454F"
                           ExpandCollapseIconColor="#6750A4" />

Collapse or expand a pane in code

gridSplitter.SplitterPanes[1].IsCollapsed = true;
