Chroma 1.5.9 on this machine, without Docker and without Python, for ChromaDotNet.Client: ChromaLocalServer.StartAsync starts the executable of the Chroma CLI as a child process on 127.0.0.1, and stops it with Dispose or when the application ends. With the executables for Windows x64, Linux x64 and arm64 (glibc 2.28 and later), macOS x64 and arm64; for one platform only, ChromaDotNet.Local.Core and the ChromaDotNet.Local.Runtime package of that platform. The default embedding function of Chroma for .NET: all-MiniLM-L6-v2 in ONNX, with the same vectors as the Python client. An IEmbeddingGenerator of Microsoft.Extensions.AI, for ChromaDotNet.Client 2.17.0 and later. The model is downloaded at the first start into the cache folder of Python, and checked with its SHA-256. On .NET 8 and later it runs through ElBruno.LocalEmbeddings by Bruno Capuano; on .NET Framework (Windows, 64-bit) on ONNX Runtime. Tokenizer: Hugging Face, through Tokenizers.DotNet.
